A play about a kid and his Pokemon premieres in the neighborhood soon.

On Jan. 25, “He Hurt Himself In His Confusion” comes to experimental art space The Glove on the Bushwick and Bed-Stuy border as part of the 2018 Exponential Festival.

The short play follows Jia Hao, a luckless boy with no friends, as he deals with growing pains and the divorce of his parents. Jia Hao’s only companion is a small fire lizard who, unlike his master, really wants to evolve and grow up. How can Jia Hao convince the lizard that change is stupid and bad? Well, you’ll have to watch the play to find out

Playwright Dan Giles told Bushwick Daily how the story was born:

“About a year ago, I was in a stretch of intense writer’s block until this wild little play appeared one afternoon and refused to go away,” Giles explained. “It’s a dorky, sweet, and explosive story about looking back and moving forward, and I’m thrilled that it’s happening at Exponential with this great team.”

The Glove is located at 885 Lexington Ave. off the Gates Ave J/Z subway station. Tickets are $10 at the door or you can reserve them by email.
